Kit Cars - Popular Drivetrain Configurations

To say that the Corvette Interface Kit is a ''Natural' for Kit Cars is an understatement.  These adapter kits were literally designed with the kit car enthusiast in mind!  (That would be me.)

Whether it's a 30s style Hot Rod –
 A vintage sports car –
Or even a mid-engine exotic replica –

Whether it's a front, mid, or rear engine configuration...

Whether you have plenty of funds, or working with a tight budget –

Whether you're an automotive engineer or a DIY weekend hobbyist –

An upgrade to a Corvette IRS or IFS s a great addition to any project!

 For the Front-Engine Enthusiast

Once the complete C5 Corvette IRS is installed with our adapter kit, then you can choose from the

Type 1 or Type 2 drivetrain configurations.

More information on front drivetrain configurations is available on our website in Sections 5 and 6.)

For the Mid Engine Enthusiast

Once the complete C5 Corvette IRS is installed with our adapter kit, then you can choose from the Type 3 or 4 drivetrain configurations.

More information on mid engine configurations is available on our website in sections 7 and 8.)

Let's take an example –

Let's say you've got a late-70's Manta Mirage kit car with the Crown Transaxle Adapter kit joining your Small-block Chevy engine to a Corvair 4-Speed – and everything works just fine.

However, the car still has the Corvair rear suspension that it came with...

And you would like to handle MORE like a Corvette and LESS like a Corvair.

Not a problem!

The Corvair transaxle will work just fine with the Corvette Interface kit.

So if you don't have the finances to swap everything at once, you could still upgrade to the Corvette suspension and hold off a while for the transaxle swap.

Just to help nudge anyone who wants to upgrade their Kit Car to a C5 Corvette IRS, there are some Before and After photos below.

(The four photos below were modified.  The actual Manta has not been upgraded – Yet...)

Before

After

As you can see by this selection of photos, the standard Corvair IRS really gives it away as a kit car.

Since we've been able to bring down the cost and effort to install the C5 Corvette IRS system, we hope to see a lot of rear views like the one on the right.

I'm also a firm believer that a sophisticated upgrade like this is an investment in your project and will more than pay for itself when it comes time to sell the car.
